This Week

Berlin moves fast. A market that was great last month may have moved or closed. A venue that everyone was talking about in winter looks different in summer. The best things happening in the city at any given moment are not always the ones that have been written about the most — they’re often newer, quieter, or simply part of a scene that doesn’t publicise itself in the usual ways.

This section collects what’s worth doing in Berlin right now: events with a specific time and place, exhibitions in their final weeks, seasonal opportunities that won’t wait, and the kind of thing you only find out about if someone tells you. The logic is the opposite of a permanent guide — these are time-sensitive recommendations built around the current moment.

The rhythm of Berlin has strong weekly patterns. Thursday evenings are when many gallery openings happen. Weekends are for markets, day trips, and the longer version of everything. Sundays in summer have a particular quality that’s hard to describe but easy to recognise — the city relaxes in a way that weekdays and Saturdays don’t quite match.

Knowing what’s happening this week makes a real difference to how much you get out of the city. A long weekend with no plan tends to collapse into the same few options. A long weekend with two or three specific things in mind tends to expand into something more interesting around them.

These guides are updated to reflect what’s actually current. Use them as a starting point, not a complete answer.
