Miami Spice is the practical food event of late summer: August and September prix-fixe menus at participating restaurants across Greater Miami and Miami Beach.

The trick is to use it selectively. Miami Spice is best for restaurants you already wanted to try, neighborhoods where you can make a full evening, or lunch/brunch deals that turn a hot day into something civilized. It is less useful if you chase every famous name without checking the actual menu.

Good Miami Spice zones include Brickell, Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Wynwood, the Design District, and Doral. For date night, look for restaurants where the room and surrounding neighborhood carry the evening. For groups, check menu restrictions before booking.

Reservations matter. Popular restaurants fill the strongest weekend times quickly once menus are live.
