First-timers should treat Supercon like a small trip: choose priorities before you arrive, leave room for lines, and do not try to see everything.

Florida Supercon is South Florida’s largest comicon-style pop culture convention. The official show describes the weekend as a mix of comic books, animation, cartoons, anime, video games, cosplay, fantasy, sci-fi, wrestling, pop culture, celebrity guests, exhibitors, artists, and fan community.

In practical terms, expect three overlapping events:

• A show floor with exhibitors, vendors, official merch, collectibles, artists, food, and fandom features.
• A programming schedule with panels, screenings, guest appearances, meetups, gaming, literary programming, cosplay events, and family activities.
• A convention crowd where cosplay, photo ops, shopping, and casual wandering are part of the point.

If you only have a few hours, choose one anchor before you go: a panel, a guest photo op, Artist Alley, Family HQ, Cosplay Central, or a specific shopping target. If you have a full day, build in breaks. The convention center is large, lines are real, and Miami in July makes fatigue hit faster than expected.

Which day should you go?

Friday, July 10 is the best day if you want the first shot at shopping, a slightly less intense start, and After Dark later in the evening. It is also useful for fans who want to learn the layout before the Saturday peak.

Saturday, July 11 is the main event day. Expect the biggest cosplay turnout, the most crowded show floor, and the strongest all-day convention energy. If you are chasing popular panels, photo ops, or meetups, arrive early and assume you will spend time in lines.

Sunday, July 12 is the easiest pick for many families and first-timers. The show closes at 5 PM, so it is a shorter day, but the atmosphere can be more manageable and it still gives you the core Supercon experience: costumes, shopping, family programming, panels, and final-day browsing.

Tickets, badges, and Will Call

Use the official Florida Supercon ticket page for current pass types, VIP options, photo-op links, and any sold-out notices. Supercon says ticket prices shown on its site include the ticket cost, service fee, and 6 percent sales tax; shipping options, if available for your order, are handled at checkout.

Important ticket notes:

• Supercon tickets are ordered online.
• Attendees age 6 and older need a ticket.
• Kids ages 6-12 use a Supercon Kids ticket.
• Attendees age 13 and older need an adult ticket.
• Minors under 16 must be with a parent or guardian.
• Supercon’s FAQ says tickets are not refundable or exchangeable.

If you do not already have a physical badge, plan for Will Call in the Lincoln Ballroom. Official Will Call hours are Thursday 8 AM-7 PM, Friday 8 AM-7 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM-7 PM, and Sunday 9 AM-4 PM. If you are attending Friday and can pick up Thursday, that is usually the least stressful move.

Guests, panels, photo ops, and the app

The guest and panel schedule is the part most likely to change close to showtime. Use the official guests page, panels page, and Supercon mobile app before leaving home.

For celebrity moments, keep these practical points in mind:

• Photo ops and some autographs are separate purchases from general admission.
• Popular sessions can sell out or fill up.
• Guest appearances and panel access are subject to schedule changes.
• Pre-purchased autograph or photo-op tickets usually have specific redemption instructions, so keep the barcode available on your phone and arrive at the instructed time.
• Do not rely on wandering into the most popular panel five minutes before it starts.

The official app is especially useful because Supercon uses it for schedules, maps, reminders, guests, exhibitors, Artist Alley listings, and badge activation.

What to prioritize inside

Show Floor and vendors: Good for merch, collectibles, art, games, impulse finds, and the general convention atmosphere. If you care about a limited item, shop earlier in the day.

Artist Alley: One of the best areas for prints, commissions, fan art, stickers, small gifts, and direct support of artists. Bring a safe way to carry flat prints if you plan to buy art.

Panels and screenings: These are the best value if you want more than shopping. Pick two or three must-sees, then build your day around them.

Cosplay Central: Supercon lists cosplay repair, changing rooms, photo sets, figure drawing, showcases, and Crown Championship programming. This is the area to know if you are wearing a build that may need repairs or a place to change.

Family HQ: The all-ages zone sits on the show floor and runs during regular show hours. It is designed for interactive activities, games, demos, and kid-friendly breaks.

Pride Lounge, Jolt Radio, The Tavern, and After Dark: These make the convention feel bigger than a daytime shopping-and-panel event, especially for adults and older teens.

After Dark

After Dark runs Friday and Saturday from 7 PM to midnight in Ballrooms A, B, C, and the Grand Lobby after the show floor’s regular daytime close. The official After Dark programming includes late-night panels, screenings, stage entertainment, karaoke, gaming, drinks, DJ-style programming, themed parties, and age-rated events.

Do not assume everything after 7 PM is for every attendee. Supercon uses age labels such as all ages, teen/YA, 18+, and 21+. Bring a government-issued photo ID if you plan to drink or attend anything restricted by age. If your group includes younger fans, check the schedule carefully before making After Dark the main reason for going.

Cosplay and prop rules

Cosplay is central to Supercon, but security rules matter. Supercon’s official policy says every blaster and prop gun worn by attendees must be checked and marked by security, with a different marking required each day. The policy also lists banned items, including real or realistic firearms, metal blades, functional projectile weapons, hard bats or clubs, chemical weapons, drones, skates, scooters, and some large or heavy props.

Simple planning advice:

• Read the official cosplay and prop rules before building or packing anything questionable.
• Travel discreetly with prop weapons outside the venue.
• Keep large props modular if possible.
• Use Cosplay Central for repair and changing needs.
• Ask before photographing a cosplayer.

If an item is unusual, email Supercon before the event with details and photos. Security still has the final call at the venue.

Family planning

Florida Supercon can work well with kids, especially older children and teens who already care about anime, gaming, comics, costumes, or collectibles. It is not, however, a passive museum day. Noise, crowds, lines, and visual stimulation are part of the experience.

For families, Sunday is usually the cleanest one-day plan. Arrive near opening, do Family HQ and the show floor first, choose one panel or cosplay moment, eat early, and leave before the late-afternoon crash. If you go Saturday, set a meeting point, keep snacks and water handy where allowed, and make peace with skipping things.

Useful family details from Supercon’s FAQ:

• Kids age 6 and older need tickets.
• Minors under 16 need a parent or guardian.
• Oversized strollers are not allowed, but regular strollers are permitted.
• The convention offers a family room and quiet room, with locations updated close to the show.
• Service animals are permitted; pets and emotional support animals are not.

Food, water, and breaks

The convention center has official food options on multiple levels, including coffee, empanadas, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, sushi or poke, tacos, rice bowls, ice cream, paletas, doughnuts, and other quick-service choices. There are also vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free listings available through the official food page.

The tradeoff is convenience versus lines and cost. If you are staying all day, eat before the standard lunch rush or use a real break outside the show floor. Nearby Lincoln Road is the easiest off-site food zone, but leaving and returning costs time, so check re-entry and badge rules before you step out.

Pack for a long indoor day: comfortable shoes, a refillable water bottle, portable phone battery, photo ID, payment card, some cash for vendors or autographs, a small bag that can pass security checks quickly, and a way to protect prints or collectibles.

Getting there and parking

The Miami Beach Convention Center sits in South Beach near Lincoln Road, Pride Park, the Botanical Garden, and the New World Center. It is central, but event traffic can make the last mile slow.

The MBCC campus has an 800-space parking garage with entries from Convention Center Drive and Washington Avenue; the convention center lists a flat event parking fee for the garage. Supercon and Miami tourism sources also point visitors to nearby parking lots, rideshare, taxis, public transportation, and Brightline to MiamiCentral followed by local transit or a rideshare connection to Miami Beach.

For most visitors, the least stressful options are:

• Stay within walking distance on Miami Beach.
• Use rideshare and get dropped a few blocks away if the immediate venue curb is clogged.
• Arrive early if driving.
• Use Brightline to MiamiCentral only if you are coming from farther up the corridor, then budget extra time to cross to Miami Beach.

Good nearby add-ons

If you want to turn Supercon into a bigger Miami Beach day, keep the plan close:

• Lincoln Road: Best nearby option for food, coffee, shopping, and decompression.
• New World Center and SoundScape Park: Easy post-con walk if your group wants air and space.
• Miami Beach Botanical Garden: A calmer reset near the convention center.
• Española Way: Good for dinner if you want a more visitor-friendly South Beach ending.
• South Pointe Park: Better as a separate morning or sunset plan, not something to force into the middle of a convention day.

Do not try to combine Supercon with Wynwood, Little Havana, and a beach afternoon in one day. The convention is already the main event.

4. Walk the show floor once before buying heavily.
