Tag der Architektur Berlin

Tag der Architektur is a quietly excellent Berlin weekend: buildings, offices, interiors, landscapes, and urban projects open for guided tours, talks, and a level of access that’s normally unavailable. The program covers recently completed and current architecture across the city — new residential buildings, cultural institutions, public spaces, renovations, and urban planning projects that often go unnoticed from the street.
The event is part of a Germany-wide architecture open day coordinated by regional architects’ chambers. Berlin’s program typically includes dozens of sites, ranging from private homes to major public buildings. Some give informal walk-through access; others run structured guided tours with architects on site to explain the design decisions.
It rewards focused planning rather than an ambitious itinerary. Pick two or three sites in the same part of the city — Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain, or wherever interests you — and build the day around those. Trying to cover too much geography turns a pleasant architectural afternoon into a frustrating transit exercise.
Check whether individual sites require advance registration, as some popular or smaller venues fill up quickly. The full program is published on the architects’ chamber website before the event weekend.
