ILA Berlin Public Days
Berlin ExpoCenter Airport
Messestraße 1, 12529 Schönefeld, Germany
ILA Berlin is one of the world’s major aerospace trade shows, and for most of its run it’s industry-only. The public weekend — Saturday and Sunday — opens it up to general visitors, which means access to flying displays, static aircraft on the ground, aerospace technology exhibitions, space programming, and hands-on workshops, all at the Berlin ExpoCenter Airport near Schönefeld.
For aviation fans, it’s a genuine highlight: the flying display program typically includes military jets, historic aircraft, demonstration flights, and aerospace innovation showcases. The static area lets you walk close to aircraft you’d otherwise only see from a departure gate. For families with children interested in space and engineering, the workshops and themed zones are substantial — ILA has developed its public program specifically for this audience.
The venue is at Schönefeld airport, which means a real journey from central Berlin: S-Bahn S9 or S45 to Flughafen BER Terminal 1-2, then the event shuttle or a walk. Budget 45 minutes to an hour from Mitte. That distance makes it a full-day plan rather than a casual drop-in — arrive early, stay for the flying display midday, and allow time to walk the full exhibition before the crowd thickens.
Buy tickets in advance online. Weekends can be busy, and the combination of security checks and crowd volume at the entrance adds time to arrival.
