Familiensportfest Berlin
Sportforum Berlin
Weißenseer Weg 53, 13053 Berlin, Germany
Familiensportfest is a strong June pick for active families with kids. Berlin sports clubs and associations take over Sportforum Berlin — one of the city’s major athletics complexes in Hohenschönhausen — for a free weekend of hands-on sports stations, live demonstrations, youth championship competitions, and movement-focused programming for all ages.
The format is broad: depending on the year, you might find stations for gymnastics, martial arts, swimming, athletics, ball sports, and niche club sports that kids rarely encounter elsewhere. The emphasis is on participation rather than spectatorship — which means it works best with children who want to try things, not just watch from the side.
Sportforum Berlin is not centrally located, but it’s reachable by tram (M5 or M6) without a car. Arriving before midday on Saturday tends to beat the biggest afternoon crowds. Given the size of the site, it works well as a half-day plan: two to three hours, then head back to eat somewhere closer to home base.
Bring sunscreen and water if the weather is warm. The event is free, so there’s no financial commitment if energy flags early.
