ADFC Bicycle Rally
Citywide routes to Brandenburg Gate
Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, 10117 Berlin, Germany
The ADFC Sternfahrt is a very Berlin kind of spectacle: part bike ride, part political demonstration for cycling infrastructure, part temporary reimagining of the city. Thousands of cyclists converge on the city center from multiple starting points across Berlin and the surrounding Brandenburg region — routes that funnel in from different directions and merge as they approach the government district and Brandenburg Gate.
The ride is organized by the ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club), Germany’s national cyclists’ lobby, and the event has a serious purpose: it’s a visible push for better cycling conditions in the city and beyond. That context doesn’t make it solemn — it’s a large, festive, open ride — but it’s worth knowing that participation is also a statement.
There’s a dedicated family route with a gentler pace, suitable for children who are confident on bikes. For experienced urban cyclists, the full routes offer the unusual experience of riding sections of road that are normally car-dominated.
If you’re joining: check the official route before leaving, start from a point on the route rather than trying to reach a specific hub at peak time, and be comfortable riding in a dense crowd. If you’re not riding: treat it as a travel note — roads and transit around the route can be disrupted for several hours on the morning of June 7.
